Where's My Head?

Mom always said I'd lose it...

I have little use for money grubbing nitwits.

Alas for The Castle

As I write this, the central Kentucky landmark known around here simply as "The Castle" is in flames and the prognosis doesn't look so good.

Yet another step

Now I've gone and done it. I finished moving all of our stuff from our old farm this weekend. (OK - I still have one more shed to empty out, but...) In doing so I realized that, other than one car, I no longer own anything of significant value. That's mildly disturbing. Of course, I now have a HUGE balance in my savings account representing the equity (and slight profit :-) ) from the sale of our place but liquid assets just don't seem real somehow. I like being able to put my hands on something and know that it's mine.

Oh well. I keep reminding myself that it's just another step to a better thing.

It's a girl!

After a long wait - (refer here for background) - she showed up. And she had the decency to do so at a reasonable hour. Pics and more details in comments below as soon as I get around to it.

Busy, busy, busy

Right now we're in the middle of moving to a new location, having numerous horses give birth and working at the Rolex-Kentucky Three Day Event so blogging will be light at best. I try to keep my life very simple and being this busy really drains me. I can't imagine families that go-go-go like this all of the time.

I don't know why, but...

for some reason I find this music strangely appealing.

Life to the next level

The Game of Life, that is.

A somewhat different take on the "sustainable existence" meme of game is found in the RGB Game. In this one, the beings consist of different color dots which equate to different characteristics (speed, lifespan & sight range) and look for food. They multiply when saturated.

It takes a little time to get the hang of how these things behave and what makes the system more sustainable, but for fans of Conway's original game (or other variations of cellular automata), it's well worth a look.

Discussing Pooh

I find it somewhat humorous that DrBacchus wrote about Winnie The Pooh this weekend as I was just talking to SWMBO about the same.

The funniest thing I've seen in a long time

Whoever came up with these commercials deserves a big raise. And a corner office. And a pony.

These should have been Superbowl commercials.

Chapter 2 - In which I get sucked into the fray...

I got my first comment spam last night. This annoys me to no end - not like the perps really care - and I now have to take some measures that I've wanted to avoid.
